Abstract

In the modern age of inclusion it is imperative for teachers to understand how to best help students with mild disabilities in their general education classrooms. The goal of this special project assignment was three-fold. The first goal was to research the literature on strategies for students with mild disabilities in the general education classroom and teachers' attitudes towards those students. The second was to survey teachers on strategies and attitudes towards students with mild disabilities, and finally to a professional development presentation with handouts. The four areas explored in the professional development were lesson, assignments, tests/quizzes, and setting/behavior strategies.
