What Do Employers Expect Business School Graduates to Know About Information Technology

A survey was conducted to gauge the opinions of major corporations in one of the industrial regions in the Midwestern part of USA regarding needed IT skills and knowledge of undergraduate business students. A sample of 16 top employers comprising of manufacturing, accounting and finance industries in the region participated in a survey conducted in 2011. The IT knowledge and skills are categorized into three broad types and we observe major differences between manufacturing, and accounting and finance firms. Suggestions were also made regarding curricular changes.
