Discrete Orthogonal Polynomials on the Real Line and Constrained Energy Problem

Discrete orthogonal polynomials were the first orthogonal systems, considered by Cheyshev in 1859. However, their asymptotics were only obtained in the mid 1990's. The key ingredient was the constrained energy problem. In addition to the potential-theoretical part we will consider the asymptotics of the discrete Chebyshev polynomials and the Krawtchouk polynomials.
