Abstract

Political discussion networks play a key role in reinforcing individual party identity in Germany and the United States, and help keep minority partisans loyal in their voting behavior. Patterns of discussion vary depending on whether one lives where his/her party is in the majority or minority, with minority partisans choosing different types of relationships for discussion than majority partisans.
