Abstract
Participants were surveyed about their experience of phantom cell vibrations (false sensations of vibrations associated with incoming messages). Additional items assessed internet addiction, text message dependence, personality traits, loneliness, and relationship experiences. Phantom vibrations were associated with increased incidence of a variety of negative consequences related to overreliance on technology.
