Abstract

This chapter reviews patterns of violence in New Orleans and discusses it in terms of the Chain of Violence principle described in Iadicola and Shupe's Violence, Inequality and Human Freedom. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the current strategies of intervention outlined by the city of New Orleans in the NOLA FOR LIFE: A Comprehensive Murder Reduction Strategy and the limitations of the strategy based on the insights of the theoretical model outlined by Iadicola and Shupe.
