Over the past several years there has been an increase in the pressure for schools to produce students who pass the high stakes tests. More tension is put on administrators and teachers to do whatever they have to do to get the students to pass the test. Unfortunately, with so many schools focusing on the academics and high stakes testing, classroom management and best practices for encouraging appropriate behaviors has become secondary. However, without the proper management of behaviors in the classroom, learning will not be at its best. This special project, and the research included, was created in an effort to encourage teachers to better understand classroom strategies that are best practices for encouraging appropriate behaviors in their classrooms.
